“We all go outside for something more than what just gets us fit” - Hetty Key, Women In Adventure
Martina and Tania's smiles when arriving in Alaska are fine evidence for the benefits of outdoor adventure for mental health. However how does participation in adventure sports affect women more broadly. Inspired by personal experience, Women In Adventure founder Hetty Key undertook the challenge of trying to measure how exactly pursuing a life of adventure can affect life satisfaction, happiness, anxiety and feelings of worth. She surveyed thousands of women in the adventure community. The full survey results are very interesting and available at womeninadventure.com
Notably, 99% of respondents agreed that being outdoors has a positive impact on their mental well-being - further evidence that mountain life is worth striving for!
